Grant of Permission for Apple Data Centre in Athenry, Co. Galway

On 10th August, 2016 the Board concluded its consideration of the appeal for construction of a 24,500 square metre data centre in Co. Galway.

A number of third party appeals were lodged with An Bord Pleanála against the decision of Galway County Council to grant planning permission for the development

The Board's decision is to grant permission for the proposed development with revised conditions.

A separate application from Apple Distribution Limited was also lodged on 12th February, 2016 to allow for a 220kV electricial substation and a number of towers. This case was also considered by the Board on 10th August, 2016.

The Board's decision is to approve the proposed development.
