Functions of the Commission: Substitute Consent

Direct applications for Substitute Consent can be made to An Coimisiún Pleanála, under S177E of the Planning and Development Act, 2000, as amended. These applications relate to development that has occurred for which an EIA and or an Appropriate Assessment was required. Such applications can only be granted in exceptional circumstances and where the development is in accordance with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area. The application may be followed by a Section 37L application, relating to further development. A prospective applicant may seek a pre-application consultation meeting(s) prior to submitting their application(s).
