Infrastructure Case Types

Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID)

SID applications are applications for planning permission directly to An Bord Pleanála for major infrastructure developments by local authorities and others. Examples include motorways, railway lines, pipelines, airports, ports or major facilities like hospitals.

Local Authority Projects (LAPS)

An Bord Pleanála deals with local authority projects, including Approciate Assessments and Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) and compulsory acquisition under the Derelict Sites Act 1990.

Maritime Area Planning

An Bord Pleanála is the national body that makes a decision to grant permission or refuse permission for development in the Maritime Area.
