Joe Boland
Board Member
Joe Boland was appointed as Interim Board Member of An Bord Pleanála in April 2023 for a one-year term .
He is a career local government official with over 40 years experience , having served in a number of local authorities at senior level including periods as Director of Planning in Louth County Council as well Director of Transport and Water Services in Kildare County Council . He holds Masters Degrees in both local government management from the Institute of Public Administration as well as spatial planning [ Technical University Dublin ] and is a corporate member of the Irish Planning Institute . He has also completed the Leader Challenge course at Harvard . In more recent times , he was responsible for the Eastern and Midlands Climate Action Regional Office .
